We have chated about traffic a lot and we know that there are 2 forms of traffic:
- Paid traffic, called Pay Per Click (PPC)
- FREE traffic.
Personally I am frustrated with Paid traffic, not because I have to pay per click, but because after we educate ourselves how to do it, when we consider that we know the nuts and bolts of PPC, somebody changes the rules.
At this point we are at ground zero and the cycle of learning starts again.
How much time we have to start all over again: discovering the rules, implementing them, loosing money until we become experts on PPC, and survive the next changes.
I have noticed in the last year a real effort to find new ways of FREE traffic, my interpretation is … it is not just me, there are more people frustrated as I am, and FREE traffic is a necessity now!
I’ll give you examples of sites which can create free traffic for you:
- MySpace.com
- MyTube.com
- Blogger.com
- eBay.com
- Squidoo.com
- FreeIQ.com
And I give you an example I am working on right now.
I have created a lens in Squidoo, and I put it in a group “How-to & Education"
http://www.squidoo.com/MCeBayResources/In the day I have created my lens, it was number 320,000 on Squidoo, but the next day I start adding to it and next morning my lens
was rank 4,590 in Squidoo and rank 337 in the group.
I continue to add info, modules, in the next morning my lens
was rank 3,237 in Squidoo and rank 233 in the group.
I continue to work on it, in the next morning my lens
was rank 2,856 in Squidoo and rank 194 in the group.
Yesterday I did some additions and corrections, this morning my lens
was rank 2,019 in Squidoo and rank 136 in the group.
With other words, in 5 days I jump
- From 320,000 to 2,019 in Squidoo and
- From 337 to 136 in my group.
Well, this is progress! If you have a new Web Site and you submit the site to Google, Yahoo, MSN, do you know when the engines will start to rank your Site – in 3 month if you are lucky.
Now, I don’t want to create the false impression that is enough to have a Site in MySpace, or Squidoo, or I am an eBayer and this is it.
NO, you have to continue to work hard to make people notice you, but, it is a big but
- you don’t have to pay for it
- hopefully nobody will change the rules over the night.
